Why don’t certain sites link?

The thing that REALLY irritates me is when certain sites just copy/paste articles from my blog and then post them to their site without ever referencing my blog.

Whenever I post an article I always try and reference the source I got it from as well as the eventual destination.

I've been changing certain words so I can track who is doing this and I know who you are... it's also fairly obvious when I post an article that was released days before or even weeks before and then it appears on line shortly after I post it.

So those certain sites you know who you are.... show some respect to the Blogosphere and my site by also linking to my blog rather than claiming you've found all this great information!

  1. As someone who has borrowed content from your blog (with credit of course) — I find it frustrating that neither MSDN or TechNet supports trackbacks. And for those Microsoft employees that are using Windows Live Spaces which supports trackbacks . . . they are usually turned off!

Yep – the trackback is a challenge however it’s always worth just putting a link in the article anyway….

You’ve done that before and I appreciate it …. 🙂

I couldn’t agree more! I’m fed up of certain sites doing the same to me. Ok, I may not always be the original source of the information but if I have improved upon it and it has been copied almost word for word with no "via" credit, then it’s just plain sad and pathetic.

I can understand.  It seems that some spam sites tend to steal some of my posts which really annoys me.  I spend a lot of time and effort writing my own content, and being a resource site rather than a news site, it really bothers me.

Mind you that although I read your blog and enjoy the "other" side’s perspective, there’s no worry about me using your material.  But if I do, I will give a link back, 😉
