China To Mandate Standardised Phone Chargers

After clearing out my study at home over the Christmas period, this article caught my attention. 

Why?

Well I was clearing out my stash of old cables.... looking at each of the chargers thinking - what is this charger actually for?

Well in a smart move the Chinese Government is mandating that handset vendors ensure all devices are chargeable via USB! 

Most Windows Mobile devices are chargeable via USB today (except the Palm Treo 750v) so it's not a big shift however for other vendors China represents over 100 million new handsets a year so this could have significant impact in the market!
