Can anyone confirm if the devices being shipped by T-Mobile have MSFP/push e-mail enabled?

  2. Puck says:

    Hi sshah,

I bought the T-Mobile MDA the day it came out (Tuesday). I can confirm categorically that the T-Mobile devices absolutely DO NOT have the MSFP installed. I knew this would happen, and I predicted it.

Furthermore, bolstering my view that WM5 should not have been released without the MSFP in the first place (avoiding this entire fiasco), I sent an email to T-Mobile Customer Support asking when the MSFP would be released. I received the following replies:

    SECOND REPLY:

    Dear Bryan,

Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile your MDA.

Currently we have no information on who will be providing the updates

that you mentioned. If history is a guide it is usually the manufacturer

that provides the updates, but that could change in the near future.

If you have any further comments, questions, or concerns feel free to

    contact us at anytime.

Thank you for choosing T-Mobile. We do appreciate your business.

    Sincerely,

    Bill K

IN OTHER WORDS (This is Puck writing again): We don’t know what you’re talking about. We just take the first OS release Microsoft gives us, and run with that.

Therefore, as I’ve repeated endlessly…WM5 should not have been released in the first place, without the MSFP included. This is becuase you cannot rely on the carriers to include it.

  3. DonMartin says:

this is what T-Mobile US told us when asking for the availibilty of MSFP (aka AKU2):

Late summer…  We’re beginning work on implementing the AKU2 features on the MDA and SDA but this will take several months to complete.  AKU2 includes MSFP.

Now you can guess that i`m not happy with our global GSM provider 🙁

  4. ash L says:

Even if AKU reaches T-mobile US…

I find that this is impractical even if T-mobile works out the whole AKU MSFP imbroglio….unless you have Exchange 2003 SE with an update, corporate mail is still quite a Blackberry turf thingy.

I see MSFP/AKU2 being the hot thing to end summer or maybe even start Fall…And yeah you guys are right. T-mobile sales folks do not have a clue. They do not prowl the web reading up on what sells. Trust me.
