HTC Prophet now on sale as Dopod 818 in the UK

The HTC Prophet is the successor the HTC Magician more familiarly known as the Imate JAM, MDA Compact and Orange M500.

Enhancements over the previous device include the addition of WLAN, a 2 Mega-Pixel camera and EDGE support.

It's available in a really nice Black 🙂 and has Windows Mobile 5.0 as it's Operating System!

The only downside are that the processor is 195 MHz compared to the 400 MHz + processor in the previous device.

First of all, belive me: I´m not one to rant easily, but I have to say that the performance of my windows mobile 5.0 (on my axim x51v) leaves much to be desired. I hope that the you at MS understand that BT headset connection is vital in todays mobile market, all phones have had them for quite a while now and still nothing on ppc mobile.

Of course a lot can also be dependent on the hardware but looking at the amount of problems people have with (examples: Async,BT,Storage Cards) the software I am inclined to hope that somethings are done to fix them…

This is just a reminder for all MS bloggers who talk about the supperiority of the WM 5.0

And to all a good end of the year!

Zak, ppc phone edition supports BT Headset. The aim x51v is a pocket pc not phone edition. Why are you trying to use a BT headset with it?

"Why are you trying to use a BT headset with it?"

Easy, main reason: VoIP (or should I say Skype:),

Plus: On the road I want to carry as litle as possible and a pair of "extra" wired headphones are (in my oppinion) very annoying to be carrying around. Especially getting them tangled up in a pocket….

I would like to hear your oppinion about my other points as well

BTW: Go have a look at aximsite and other forums and you will see that I am not alone in this frustration

  5. MSDN Archive says:

Zak – it looks like the X51v doesn’t have the BT Headset or Handsfree profile integrated into it which is why you cant support your BT Headset. Saying that – I’ve never actually tried a BT Headset with Skype on any other devices yet.. something for me to try over the Christmas break 🙂

On the other issues – drop me an email and I’ll see what I can do to help.
