Pocket PC RSS Readers

On my Universal I've been trying a number of RSS Readers to keep myself up to date with what's happening in the world of Mobile.  My previous favourite RSS reader was Newsbreak however I was having a few issues with it on Windows Mobile 5 so I decided to take a look around.

I ended up looking at two other products:

Egress - http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=1&jid=4235C8D932F78551FEDDX8317X4138DB&platformId=2&N=96806&productId=93539&R=93539

BeetzStream SmartRSS - http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=1&jid=4235C8D932F78551FEDDX8317X4138DB&platformId=2&N=96806&productId=171702&R=171702

I seem to have fallen in love with Egress as it just seems to work really really well and I struggled with the SmartRSS interface 🙁

What RSS reader do you use on your Smartphone/Pocket PC?

I like Newsbreak a lot, but all the rss readers only support basic authentication and not http digest authentication (more secure) so I use newsgator to forward them to my email, which I grab from my pocket pc.

    I use this one: http://pda.jasnapaka.com/prssr/

It is free and very useful.

I’ve been using newsbreak on trial for just over a week now and have convinced myself to stump up the cash ……. until your comment! I’ll need it to work with WM5 in the not too distant future (the new devices are going to be just too hard to resist) so more investigation is required before I part with hard earned

After a couple of days of back and forth emails I just got NewsBreak to work (like a champ) on my Imate Jas Jar, thanks to the help of the folks at NewsBreak. Use the newest trial version downloads from this link: http://www.iliumsoft.com/download.php?prodcode=20720

I use Newsgator and sync them on my Smartphone/Pocket PC…

Okay, so mine’s a Symbian phone (Sony Ericsson P910i) and I haven’t checked to see if there’s a PPC compatitble version but I use Handy Day 2005. This gives me condensed view of icons, calender appointments/alarms, weather and other bits and I can customise it to have a load of RSS feeds setup to update regularly.

You may also want to look at NewsMob.com

NewsMob is a web based RSS aggregator that works with your Pocket PC, sync or live, to provide access to your news anytime, anywhere.
