SharePoint Web Sites in Government

There are some great examples of Government web sites being hosted on SharePoint.  The cost and management benefits of consolidating your internal collaboration and content management platform with your external web portal are significant.  I think it was this site from Chicago that really stood out for me.

I get asked the question quite regularly for examples of Public Sector sites on SharePoint, and a colleague pointed me towards this list.  Fantastic resource, just made my life easier! Hosted by a Microsoft consultant in New Zealand he also has a good blog with more SharePoint goodness on it.  (and some non-SharePoint stuff like this link to high quality streaming HD video with IIS7 + Silverlight + Akamai – the quality is quite jaw dropping)

The other resource I found recently was on TechNet.  I am a simple lad at heart, and I like nothing more than complex subjects made easy.  So it was this collection of SharePoint best practices that caught my eye – easy to understand lists with actionable points in them.
