Silverlight 2 Beta 2 Released!

image Here in Sandyford I’ve been on the edge of my seat waiting for the Silverlight 2 Beta 2 release and on Friday, June 6th it finally arrived!

Of course ScottGu’s blog is an excellent source of information for what to expect from this release: http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2008/06/06/silverlight-2-beta2-released.aspx  Did you know that with all the new features, Silverlight 2 Beta 2 is still only a 4.6MB download?

One of the more interesting pieces about this release, especially for the many Irish folks building Silverlight applications, is the availability of a go-live license.  A go-live license allows a developer to start using and deploying commercial applications built on top of Silverlight 2.

How can I get started?

To get started using and building Silverlight 2 Beta2 applications, this link is your best friend: http://silverlight.net/GetStarted/.  There you can find links to the Silverlight tools, Expression Blend 2.5 June 2008 Preview and the Deep Zoom Composer.  Please note that with the new Silverlight tools install, you now only have one install, and that includes the Visual Studio add-on, the Silverlight 2 Beta 2 runtime, and the Silverlight 2 Beta 2 SDK.
