Windows Phone: What Microsoft Learned From Apple?

Tim Bajarin, president of Creative Strategies, writes at PC Magazine  that “Microsoft is taking a page out of Apple's playbook with Windows Phone 7 Series.” By comparing the merits of Apple’s “closed” system with those of Google’s open source and community approach, he believes that Microsoft, by issuing strict hardware and software guidelines to its partners, will force all applications to be designed around a single hardware and software specification to ensure that they will work on any Windows Phone 7 Series.
