The Future of Microsoft Silverlight - Silverlight 5 Announced

Microsoft Silverlight 5 was announced during the Firestarter event.  A Silverlight 5 Beta will be available in the first half of 2011 with the final release shipping in the the second half of 2011.   New features were added for Premium Media Experiences including GPU accelerated video decoding and many new features for application development.

“Silverlight 5 introduces more than 40 new features, including support for running Silverlight applications with desktop features in the browser, dramatic video quality and performance improvements, and features that improve developer productivity.”
