Daylight Saving Time Guidance from Microsoft IT
Microsoft Information Technology (Microsoft IT) had to prepare for the change in Daylight Saving Time (DST) in accordance with the Energy Policy Act of 2005. Microsoft IT supports several operating systems, productivity applications, line of business (LOB) applications, and mobile devices. Though the product teams had already developed patches and numerous Knowledge Base (KB) articles about the DST change, Microsoft IT's complex infrastructure required it to develop a plan to allow mitigation in advance of any DST impacts. Enclosed in the attached zip file are several guides prepared by MSIT which document the methods that Microsoft IT employed and the lessons learned from our internal pilot, which should provide highly meaningful guidance for our customers.
