Mmmm, fall!

Fall is my favorite season. Only thing bad about it is that winter is coming. If you can remove that thought from your mind and just focus on the yumminess of the season, fall is the best... football, full stop

...stuff starts tasting like pumpkin and eggnog have an excuse to put together a political and blog-inappropriate Halloween costume

...that smell in the air

...the single best food day of the year: Thanksgiving

....the fact that you aren't required to participate in any holiday rituals on Thanksgiving other than eating and sleeping

...your neighborhood gets quiet because the little hoodlums are back in school

...people start leaving on vacation so you can actually get some work done feel justified in making comfort food for dinner and you bring out the red wine

...awesome Halloween decorations that you want to keep up year-round. Loving the orange door football

Then there’s my personal favorite – the new fall TV season.

  2. Programmerman says:

Ah, college football… every year, it makes me wonder how we survive the rest of the year without it.  Of course, my team is idle this week…

  3. HeatherLeigh says:

Joe – hmmm, yeah, I guess I’m into that too. Mostly just Survivor and The Amazing Race.

Programmerman – I agree. And my team is idle too. But I’ll be hoping that the Sun Devils kick some bulldog butt.

I loved "…people start leaving on vacation so you can actually get some work done"!

I have to add Seahawks, hot chocolate and being to use the fireplace.

If there was a way to keep the ice off of the roads, i would love winters too!

  5. RB says:

do they paint the door only for Halloween?

  6. mdapsauski says:

At the risk of sounding horribly cliche…

    1.) Leaves changing color

2.) Building a fire in the fireplace after said comfort food and red wine

    3.) Frost in the morning

(When you live in LA, you don’t get these things.  You do, however, get to watch some really great college football in person… (fight on!))

  7. HeatherLeigh says:

    Parul – yeah, the fireplace!

RB – I don’t know. Do you think that’s a real house that people actually live in? I doubt it. I would leave my door that color all year ’round. I love orange.

mdapsauski – it’s not cliche if it’s true. And yeah, there are LA things that make up for the lack of frost (In-N-Out burger, PCH, 6 hours to Vegas, etc.) 🙂

…that smell in the air … I thought that was just me.  What is that smell and how come it’s here in England as well as the US?

  9. Bad_Brad says:

    Amen on the college football.

Every year I’ve lived in the Seattle area, I’ve loved the summer weather, but every year by early July, I’m wishing the summer away because I have the shakes from no college football.

And by the way – if I wasn’t already happily married, I’d ask you to marry me.  😉  It took my wife about 10 years to get used to the fact that Saturday in the fall = college football (and there’s really no way around it – oh by the way, sometimes Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings in the fall also = college football).  You, on the other hand, obviously get it from day one …

  10. HeatherLeigh says:

Jamie – good question. It’s universal!

Bad_Brad, the football thing is certainly seen as a plus in the dating world. Of course, I keep dating men with cats that don’t care about football. I have to stop doing that. It’s rough out there!

  11. You get changes of season??

I did notice that football started again………

  12. Michael L says:

Hey I like the fall because when you think about it thanksgiving is around the corner and christmass is coming too…
