Yoga update

OK, so my intro to yoga class last week was really good. I was surprised. I think I mentioned that when I tried it before, my mind was still bopping around all different subjects both important and trivial. And thusly, the recommendation to "breathe deeply....relax" only made me want to punch someone. How un-yoga-like.

So last week's class? I was actually able to focus on myself and what I was doing. No mind racing. No evil thoughts (and by that I mean that most thoughts would be perceived by me as evil since they were gettin' in the way of me and a peaceful mind). OK, I admit that I did think for a moment about how odd it appeared that the instructor was so freaking limber. But I am sure I'll get over that.

So today at lunchtime, I am off to "core yoga". It hurts to think about it. I'm trying a bunch of different kinds out to see what I like. More on that later. We can even discuss the fact that I impulsively went out and bought some new yoga gear. What a dork. Hey, maybe I'll be a present and peaceful dork soon.

Have never heard of "core yoga" but I bet it involves lots of stomach muscles!

Yoga clothes have come a long way and are quite comfy and cute even when you aren’t doing yoga!

It will be interesting to see which type of yoga you end up liking the best……keep us posted!

Wait until you get to "Hot Yoga."  It is basically Yoga in a sauna.

Ray – I tried that once. Seems that the room at my yoga studio is always toasty anyway (though I know hot yoga takes it to another level). I am one of those weird people that likes to sweat (feels cleansing) so I look forward to trying hot yoga again.

BTW, I’ve been doing yoga for 3 years and still can’t get rid of the evil thoughts.

Maybe I should have my doctor increase my medication levels.

Tim – maybe 🙂 I find my state-of-mind somewhat inconsistent so far. But I can tell you that I had a better nights sleep last night than I have had in a very long time. There’s something to this yoga stuff!

And I bet you are reducing the evil thoughts more than you know. You have to concentrate on the poses!
