Head Copywriter, Zune (183782)

The Zune brand team is looking for an experienced copywriter with proven marcomm experience to help drive the strategy and execution of Zune voice, tone, style in all communications. If you’re passionate about brands, have a keen facility for language, and a proven track record creating consumer and entertainment messaging and collateral, we’d like to speak with you.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience developing messaging and creative, working with customer insights, developing messaging frameworks, developing and owning style guides, and tracking program success. Experience as the lead writer for multiple media is necessary, including advertising, online marketing, event collateral, DM, CRM, and audience-specific marketing.

The head copywriter will have strong editorial credibility and expertise, the ability to write for multiple audiences across different disciplines, own critical brand-building responsibilities.

Activities include:

· Develop and maintain the Voice of Zune.

· Managing all marketing department writing assignments from inception to production

· Ensuring that all customer- and partner-facing materials adhere to editorial guidelines (strategic and creative goals as well as audience- and program-specific requirements).

· Work closely with legal and Geo Pol to research and approve titling, language usage guidelines, and other naming conventions and plans.

· Integrate across the marketing team to develop collaborative engagement in marketing strategies and tactics to ensure unified voice, tone, style, and approach to customers.

· Help creative director and group brand manager run brand-building exercises across the team.

· Help evangelize Zune’s vision across Microsoft.

· Concept &/or write majority of marketing copy.

· Manage freelance and temporary writers as necessary for overflow or audience-specific materials.

· Be the editorial expert within Zune.

Background:

· 5 + years of related experience in marketing communications disciplines

· Creative writing &/or other professional writing experience preferred

· Considerable experience driving brand and product message strategy and execution

· Bachelor’s degree required

· Exceptional project management and time management skills

· History successfully managing agencies and vendors

· Experience with marketing communications processes, development, planning, and execution

· Experience with market research
