I'm not not thinking about Katrina

When I started this blog, I thought hard about what I wouldn't blog about. Specifically, religion, politics and my personal life (family, dating, etc). I'm an opinionated person as anyone who knows me (or reads this blog) is aware. So I've been keeping my distance from topics that could inch toward the political, religious, etc. You know how I know that I am doing a good job of staying religio-politically neutral? I read the blogs of some of my readers; people who do blog about religion and politics, and the ones I totally disagree with don't know and I intend to keep it that way unless I decide to launch a personal blog, which I really don't think I am inclined to do. I'm totally comfy with the idea that people that disagree on things can still share a lot and build relationships of value.

I know that I am free to express my opinion on things, that's what the disclaimer is for. But the whole point of the blog is to engage people of all religions (or none), of all political ideologies (or none). I don't want any of those things to be an issue here. This is part of my job. My job is independent of politics, religions and much of my personal life.

Anyway, I've seen a lot of people blogging on the hurricane and the aftermath. I wanted to let you all know that it's been weighing heavily on my mind (the long weekend was focused on activities that would keep me from watching the news the whole time). I just haven't felt that I could blog about it because 1) the news of it is being covered elsewhere and 2) my opinions on the topic would lead me down the path to blog about things that I decided I wasn't going to (see above). So I wanted to let you know the reason why I have not blogged on the situation at all.

I honesty feel sick about the last week. I've been trying to think of things I can do aside from (and/or in addition to) giving money. Anyway, that is all I wanted to say.

This blog is only a fraction of my life.
