Musical Baton Meme

OK, only because Zoe asked...

Total volume of music files on my computer: 12.33 gb

Last CD I bought: Hmm, can't remember the last time I actually bought a CD in it's physical form. Recently downloaded music is a little eclectic including Justin Timberlake (don't judge me), the Sugarhill Gang and Green Day. I'm just about to get the new Coldplay and Audioslave

Song playing right now: Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash...mostly because it's the first song on my favorite playlist and I thought I should actually be listening to music before I answered this question.

Five songs I listen to a lot these days:

1) Caring is Creepy: the Shins

2) Like a Stone: Audioslave

3) Don't Panic: Coldplay

4) In da Club: 50 Cent

5) Stolen Car: Beth Orton

I know...eclectic…what can I say? Any of my readers that want to pick up the baton (I prefer to think of it as the twirling kind with streamers on the end, not the running kind, but that's just me), go for it.

  1. Heather — find Social Distortion’s version of Ring of Fire. Great stuff!!

You have taste like me… all over the place. That comes from a mother who was a Motown gal, a father who was into Peter, Paul and Mary along with Waylon Jennings and finally finding punk music when I was 8. 🙂

In case anyone wants to know I am about to get DMB’s new album along with the new one from Foo Fighters.

Hmm, I didn’t even know FFs were coming out with a new one. I love Dave Grohl…there…I said it.

I’m sure my parents are trying to figure out why all the interest in funk. My dad played drums in a band when he was young. Other than that, not a lot of musical inspiration to be had via the parents in my case.

Might I be so bold as to suggest some excellent Australian bands?

You might like to check out the Eskimo Joe song "From the Sea" and definately have a look at Powderfinger, one of our best ever bands. The album "Odyssey Number 5" is just sublimely good.

Zoe is thrilled you took up the baton (most definitely the kind with streamers) and, in addition to my singing to her today, loves JT (but even if she didn’t she’d never judge), the Sugarhill Gang, Green Day and all the rest of your lovely, eclectic choices – except Audioslave – she’s a little lukewarm on them. We are especially fond of a song by Finley Quaye called Dice that Beth Orton lent her lovely voice to. Cool choices – thanks for taking up the baton!

  5. Heather — I enjoy Dave’s music also. He is very talented. Actually the Foo Fighter’s album is not out yet but will be shortly. They do have the first single out and if the rest of the album is as good then it will be a classic.

Wag-that dog has some good taste! ; )Hmm, wonder if my Jonas wants to guest post here.

Hey Heather, good post – good idea. The real question is, though, where did you download the music? iTunes? Napster? MSN Music? 😉

For the record, my last five purchases from MSNMusic are:

    1) Sublime – "Santeria"

    2) Blue October – "Calling You" (go 80’s!)

    3) Nickelback – "Figured You Out"

    4) Breaking Benjamin – "Sooner or Later"

    5) 3 Doors Down – "Let Me Go"

Though my most listened to song right now is "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers (go Iowa!)
