ilovebees.com…hacked server, conspiracy or fantastic Halo 2 Marketing?

You decide…

Here’s some background: http://ilovebees.blogspot.com/

And here is the site: http://www.ilovebees.com

Here’s discussion about it in the Bungie forums: http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=364518&viewreplies=true&postRepeater1-p=1

Here’s where you can see the trailer (the link is at second 43..read above and you’ll know what I am talking about). Kind blurry but you can see the link change: http://entertainment.msn.com/movies/article.aspx?news=164795

Not sure if Bungie did this or XBox. But excellent marketing if you ask me! Way to go whomever you are!

Here’s another great site about ILoveBees.com. http://www.thebruce.ca/ilovebees/ This guy has way too much time on his hands (you’lll see what I mean) but he’s done a complete chronology of the site. Awesome stuff.

Here’s what i’ve been reading to keep up with all the info..

I’m amazed at the things people are doing to solve this puzzle..

  3. I stayed up late last night waiting for enough axons to go hot – now all the audio files are available, and the three stories they tell are really worth listening to. Good stuff!

Great Marketing… The original marketing for the movie A.I. was similarly done…

It was phenomenal…. I remember getting a phone call on my mobile phone at in the middle of an event….

    "Hello, this is palmer."

"The year is 2025, and the Anti Robot Militia knows who you are….."

It was fun and disturbing. These types of puzzles and marketing are a great way to involve the early adopters and make some great noize on the product’s behalf.

Scott, Stan,..thanks for those extra links. It’s amazing how this has taken in a life of it’s own.

Paul-is the story worth listening to even if you aren’t a big Halo player?

Guys–do you think there’s actually a solution or prize at the end? I’m kind of prepared for there not to be anything at the end. Or maybe for there to be no "end" per se. What do you think?

Damn the Halo trailer doesn’t work in Firefox. *Sighs as he opens IE*

  7. Tbh, I think people are stretching with the Halo link. Aside from the trailer blip, I don’t think there’s been anything that directly ties them together?

To try to summarize the audio without spoiling: it’s clearly in the future, but it very much focuses on human relationships, with a large helping of humour and militaristic intrigue. Really good production quality, too.

Robert… ; ) Good to hear from you
