Microsoft Live Meeting Meets Healthstream

Next week I'm off to Chicago to speak with healthcare customers at the Microsoft Healthcare Executive Forum at the Westin. Following that, I'll touch down in Nashville for the Healthstream 2006 Summit. I will join Healthstream CEO, Bobby Frist, on stage to introduce advances in the company's latest generation Internet-based learning platform; the Healthstream Learning Center.

Healthstream's innovative learning solutions are aimed at supporting healthcare organizations' mission-critical training and business objectives. The company offers required regulatory training, workforce development programs, and instruction on new medical devices and healthcare products.

A core component in Healthstream's Learning Center solution is Microsoft Office Live Meeting. For those familiar with my Blog, you know that I'm a huge fan of Live Meeting and our Live Communications Server technologies (also see articles here). Our most innovative customers are using Live Meeting to extend the reach of medical grand rounds presentations, clinical case conferences, training programs for nurses and IT staff, and patient education. With Live Communication Server, telephony, messaging and core collaboration modalities can now be fully integrated on the PC. This opens up new and exciting possibilities for more effectively managing communications across care teams and with our patients. Personally, I've found that many common medical errors, poor outcomes, and causes of patient dissatisfaction are centered more on breakdowns in communication than anything else. Live Meeting opens up new ways to communicate and collaborate in real-time and on-demand. Live Communications Server enables a myriad of possibilities for more efficient communication in the healthcare setting including text messaging, voice, video, and file-sharing.

If you've discovered innovative ways to use these technologies in your hospital or clinic, let us know.
