One of the Microsoft partners ISHIR (https://www.ishir.com) recently built a Windows Azure solution by migrating their on-premise IT assets to the Microsoft cloud computing platform.  Portability Windows Azure platform allowed quick time to market of the solution as the on-premise web application is almost compatible with Windows Azure. They needed minor refactoring to account for the differences in physical resource access and SQL differences between on-premise SQL Server and SQL Azure. ISHIR’s Vendor Management solution on Windows Azure helped them reach Longtail of customers without incurring any upfront capital investment. The Vendor Management Solution (VMS) involves the management of multiple vendors in the context of a given project or a set of projects. The vendor management activities include managing tiered vendors, candidate sourcing, assignment, time card management, and performance management.

Here is the quote from Rishi Khanna, Managing Director, ISHIR:

“Because we had no capital expenses in delivering VMS with Windows Azure, that is a $150,000 savings that translates into savings for our customers.”

On the skills reuse Gagan Sharma, Presales Manager, ISHIR had the following comment:

“We were able to use our existing skills with Microsoft technologies to efficiently migrate VMS to the cloud.”
