Launch of the Institute of Metadata Management - NSW Chapter

On the evening of the 5th of December in Sydney, despite unseasonably cold weather and tropical downpours, the NSW Chapter of the Institute for Metadata Management (IMM) was launched.

The Institute of Metadata Management (IMM) is a community of practice around the creation, management, use, promotion, capability development, innovation and articulation of information about information for better governance.

The IMM is a  non-profit body that has been slowly building over the past four years.  It's roots lie in the connections made at the 2008 International Metadata Forum by a loose collection of volunteers and people passionate about better information management and governance. As with so many organisations, the IMM commenced with the need to find an answer to one big question: "How can we better manage the data and information deluge to actually enable better knowledge and intelligence?"
