Microsoft signs the Federal Government and Industry Principles of Engagement on ICT

Cover of Government and Industry Principles of Engagement on ICT documentMicrosoft has registered as a signatory to the Federal Government's "Government and Industry Principles of Engagement on ICT".

The Review of the Australian Government’s Use of Information and Communications Technology” conducted in 2008 by Sir Peter Gershon, recommended the development of client and supplier codes of conduct to help improve the operation of the Government ICT marketplace.

The Principles outline the expected standards and behaviours for all participants in the Federal Government’s procurement process, including Government agencies and suppliers. The Principles are intended to strengthen the relationship between vendor/suppliers and customer/users by defining the expectations of behaviour and standards for all parties to a procurement of ICT.

One of the requirements of a signatory is to promote and support the Principles. Microsoft is pleased to be able to do so. It is important to note that a supplier's inclusion on the Principles of Engagement register does not imply that the Australian Government endorses the use of that supplier's products or services.

Further information on the Principles can be obtained from the Department of Finance and Deregulation's website.
