Analysts (finally?!) in tune with our view of the world?

Today I was forwarded this AMR research paper

One of the biggest misunderstandings regarding the evolution of companies toward service-oriented architecture (SOA) is all that’s needed is to buy an SOA product. Unfortunately, it’s not that simple. SOA is not a single product: it is an architectural approach designed to support maximum flexibility and reuse of existing assets.

Given the distributed nature of a composite application, an SOA without MDM [master data management] would be neither manageable nor scalable.

 

The paper is still using the ESB terminology, I guess it will take a bit longer before this will go away as well :)
