SSG Lucas Messer's Re-Enlistment Ceremony

This isn't about software security, but it is about securing the things we value. Staff Sergeant Lucas Messer, one of my Soldiers from TPD 1210, requested that I be the officer to conduct his re-enlistment oath. I'm more than honored to do so for SSG Messer. SSG Messer was a formidable Soldier for me in Afghanistan. He finished ruck marches in full gear in the mountains of Eastern Afghanistan where half of the active duty Soldiers would fall out of due to the thin air. SSG Messer was also in a vehicle that took 3 RPG hits, and he survived. After the first two hits, he crawled out, and got on the side of the burning engine and returned fire to  Point of Origin(POO). They fired a third round that hit the engine and didn’t explode, but went out the side of the vehicle. SSG Messer continued to return fire, and render aid to wounded Afghanistan Soldiers while looking after his own Soldiers in his destroyed vehicle. I'm deeply honored to have served with the Soldiers of Tactical PSYOP Detachment 1210.
