Friday App Shout-Out: Bugs And Buttons & EZ Share

Time for another installment of the Friday App Shout-Out. Today, I'm featuring one Windows Store game, and a very helpful Windows Phone app.

Bugs and Buttons

BugsAndButtons

Bugs and Buttons for the Windows Store is an utterly charming collection of kids' mini-games, geared towards learning, created by local Mid-Atlantic developers Little Bit Studios, LLC. The graphics are wonderful, and consistently nice throughout. Touch targets are big, which will definitely help for the younger set who may not be super-coordinated. There are nearly 20 games to choose from, and they can be experienced either in a guided fashion one-by-one, or kids can choose their favorites by exploring. A very nice way to learn colors, letters, patterns, and more.

UPDATE: I forgot to mention that Bugs and Buttons is available FREE for a limited time...Download it now!

EZ Share

EZShareAlthough not an official part of Mid-Atlantic, Nick Landry, whose app EZ Share is next up, is an honorary member of our local crew, and a Windows Phone MVP and Nokia Developer Champion, to boot.

EZ Share, a follow-up to Nick's popular talk2me app (which I notice Nick cleverly markets in the screenshot to the left), makes it super-simple to share content such as web links, twitter addresses, app links, etc. You can keep a bunch of "shares" handy so the next time you need to give someone your blog address, or ask them to download your app, they can just fire up Bing Vision (or their favorite QR code reader), and grab it in no time, with no typing needed. Download it here.

Office Hours

I offer weekly Office Hours, alternating between the Microsoft Store in Tyson's Corner, VA, and our Reston, VA office. If you're working on an app for Windows Phone, or Windows Store, or you need help integrating Windows Azure services into your solutions, I can help.

You can check out my current Office Hours schedule at:

I also post my next upcoming Office Hours session on the DC/Baltimore Windows App Developers Meetup group, which also happens to be a great resource for other app development related events, so you should join the group.

Who's Next?

Would you like to be the next recipient of a shout-out for your app? You can get links, videos, and more for free at App Builder. Sign up takes only a few seconds, and the resources can help make you the next app rockstar. And don't miss the newly-launched App Builder rewards program. Build apps and earn rewards, at your pace.

Drop me a note if you're working on a Windows 8 app and have questions or need advice, or if you've published your app already, let me know so I can spread the word!
