Web Wednesday: Graphic Design for Devs URL

Friday I announced a very cool webcast this Wednesday, in which Frank La Vigne will help turn ordinary developers into devigners (developer + designer) with some tips and techniques to help you get the most out of graphic design.

The webcast has now been set up, and you can access the webcast at 12 noon eastern time on Wednesday by clicking here. The webcast will be recorded, and I'll post the recording link sometime after the webcast.

Time: 12:00pm

Presenter: Frank La Vigne

Title: Graphic Design for Developers

Description:

Are you a developer yearning to become a dev-igner, a developer/designer hybrid?

The rise of a RIA and enabling technologies such as Silverlight, WPF, and XAML makes the “battleship grey” UIs we’re so familiar with look like the green screens of the 70’s and 80s.

The old cliché is that developers make poor designers and many developers needlessly tremble at the site of designer tools such as Expression or Photoshop. Graphic design is a process, just like software development.  If you learn the basics, you’ll soon turn out better User Experiences and find inspiration in the world around you.

While I can’t make you a design guru overnight, I can help you make your apps look a bit less like they did when the Spice Girls were on the pop charts.

Turtlenecks and berets optional.

I attended this web cast today and I was a little disappointed in its content. Specifically I woas expecting some practical details on creating well designed UIs. What unfortunately transpired was a simplistic view of using expression and a pretty basic UI.

Hopeing for better presentations in the future

    Mark

@Emilio: My apologies, but due to some technical issues I was unable to successfully record the session. I am hoping to schedule a repeat of the session later this year, so check back for info on that.
