ASP.NET 2.0 vs. classic ASP productivity study

Just published this week...a productivity study that demonstrates the dramatic improvements in ASP.NET 2.0 over classic ASP. Among the highlights:

  • ASP.NET 2.0 developers accomplished 113% more tasks in the same amount of time as ASP developers.
  • ASP.NET 2.0 developers created web content pages up to 357% faster than ASP developers.

Having worked with the Microsoft web platform since the original version of ASP (my first book was on Visual InterDev 6.0), the productivity gains come as no surprise to me. But if you're looking for something to help make the argument for moving to ASP.NET 2.0, this might be useful.

Just in case anyone's curious, this study was financed by Microsoft, but was conducted by a third party without direct supervision by Microsoft.
