Code Camp Info

The first Mid-Atlantic Code Camp will be held on May 7th from 9am to 9pm at the Reston Microsoft Technology Center. Registration is open, and you can register here.

The Code Camp will feature 12 hours of community-driven, deeply technical content in 5 tracks. Space is limited, so register soon.

Want to know the philosophy behind our code camps? Read the Code Camp Manifesto.

Mid-Atlantic Code Camp needs your help to be a success. If you know development, and want to share that knowledge with your peers, then we want you! To submit a session for the Mid-Atlantic Code Camp, please download the session submission form, fill it out, and return it to the email address in the document. Submissions are due by March 31st, 2005, but you should get your submissions in ASAP, as there are only a limited number of slots available and they may fill up quickly.

We also need volunteers for a successful event. Volunteers will help direct attendees to the right rooms, monitor tracks, etc. If you’re interested in volunteering for the Mid-Atlantic Code Camp, please drop me a line via the Contact page on my blog.

I’ve just added a new article containing information on nearby hotels, shops, and restaurants for those planning to attend MAD Code Camp (or any event at our Reston office, for that matter).

You can find a map & directions to the Reston office here.

Please continue to check back, as this article will be updated as planning continues with track and session information, and more.

The schedule for MAD Code Camp has been posted here. We’ve got a lot of great speakers and topics, so check them out!

UPDATE: Note that we are starting at 9am with registration and a short keynote/intro session, despite the fact that the above schedule starts at 10:15am…I’ll get that updated this evening. Sorry for any confusion.

  1. Matt says:

What hotels are close by for people that will be traveling and will be arriving Friday night?

  2. The closest is the Hyatt in Reston, which is a short walk from the Microsoft office. There’s also a Homestead Studio Suites just up the road, and a Sheraton across the highway.

You bring up a good point, however…I’ll make it a point to update the code camp info with nearby hotels.

  3. Eli Allen says:

Why are these events never on the MD side of DC? Well at least its a weekend so no 3 hour traffic jam to deal with, but then it seems like its no where near a metro stop 🙁

  4. My apologies, Eli, but we had to start somewhere, and the fact that using the Reston office doesn’t involve additional costs for space (as would be the case in MD), was a good reason for doing it there.

This will not be the last Code Camp in Mid-Atlantic, so perhaps either I (or one of the various user groups in the area) will plan the next one either in DC or somewhere in Maryland. I also know that folks down in the Richmond area would probably like to have one closer to home, so that’s a possibility for the future, too.
