TechEd Day 4: Closing the booth

I made it to the booth by 9:00 where Eliot was waiting. Once I showed up, it was time for another prize giveaway. I walked around and found a winner. It looked like we were doing our job of getting attendees into the usability study and the Ask the Expert panels. I set up our experts and directed some traffic to them while they presented. Attendees were “saturated with information” by this point of the conference and they all seemed to welcome the informal chats. While the panels went on, I walked around the booth area and talked about Microsoft products with some attendees. We ended up using the whiteboard to think up how Windows XP embedded could be used to create a bootable IE sandbox computer and it was a fun mental exercise. I handed out the remaining prizes we had, we packed up, and Eliot and I got a last lunch in Orlando. I rode the bus to the Airport and ran back into Jim. While I waited for my airplane, I started getting Sideshow working on my device. The process is surprisingly simple. I went to Microsoft’s Website, downloaded the software for my phone (a Q9C, if you are curious), and then installed it and set up connectivity with my laptop. Now I can use the sweet PowerPoint and Windows Media remotes!
