Business and Entrepreneurship competition for High School students
TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE), a registered non-profit organization, is accepting applications from high school students into its 2010/2011 program! Chapters in Boston, Carolinas, Delhi, London and Seattle are accepting applications. TYE’s education program has been ongoing since 2005 and focuses on teaching entrepreneurship to young people and helping them discover the rewards and challenges of becoming an entrepreneur. High School Students, grades 9 through 12 or the equivalent, start with a curriculum that spans 9 months from September, culminating with the Global Business Plan Competition during April-May. The program is dedicated to young aspiring entrepreneurs to sow the seeds of entrepreneurship that germinates at a later stage when they are more ready to take off.
This unique program offers a business plan competition along with hands-on inspirational courses geared to educate and groom high school students as entrepreneurs. Curriculum includes mentor based programs, taught by established industry leaders to foster innovation, leadership skills, creativity and confidence to lead in a competitive global environment.
TYE Seattle is a program aimed at engaging young minds with business and entrepreneurship. Successful applicants will embark on a unique opportunity to learn from and work with successful industry leaders and apply what they learn in real-world situations.
There are two primary components to the program – the first being in-classroom sessions and challenge activities to learn the basics of topics ranging from Marketing to Law to Business Models. The second half of the program involves working in groups with an assigned mentor to develop and write a full-length business plan for their own idea. The program culminates in a local area business plan competition. Last year, we gave away over $10 000 in prizes at this level. The winners then went on to compete in Boston, against teams from the Carolinas, Boston and London, UK. Last year the team from Seattle won 2nd place… we’re hoping to take it all home next year!
