MIcrosoft Research RFP funding proposal on Power Aware Computing

Microsoft Research is pleased to announce a new worldwide research Request For Proposals (RFP) - Power Aware Computing 2008-2009.

Submission Deadline: Tuesday, March 11, 2008, 14:00 PM PST (PST is -8 UTC/GMT)

Awards: The total amount available under the RFP is US$500,000. Microsoft Research anticipates making approximately 5 awards averaging US$100,000, with a maximum of US$150,000 for any single award. Awards are for 1 year.

Summary:   Rising prices and increasing demand have made energy a leading concern for computing. Some areas, such as mobile and embedded devices, have seen dramatic advances, yet the focus for general desktop, data center and HPC computing has remained firmly on pure compute performance. The intent of this RFP is to stimulate research across a broad range of fields to significantly increase the power efficiency of computing.
