I woke up early this morning (4am) to listen to the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) keynote address live during which Steve Ballmer announced the public release of Windows 7 beta. As usual I enjoyed the energy that Steve brought to the presentation and his passion for the future of Windows and the Microsoft platform in general, it is quite different from the traditional Bill Gates CES keynote. Get ready to download it from windows.com starting the 9th January as it will only be available for a limited time to the first 2.5 million people, for more details check out this post on the Windows Team Blog.

For those of you with a Microsoft TechNet or MSDN subscription it is already available from the subscription downloads. I am starting my download now.
