...and what is your BLOG good for?

Hi...

yesterday I had a discussion at the MIX about blogging with two quite famous German bloggers. The interesting thing was how diffferent they use their blog for.

The one guy (and I won't tell the name, sorry, I am a German guy and we are very aware about privacy) said that he does not search maybe even not tolerate discussion taking place right at his blog. So no commenting. The reason why is that there are always people out there having ten times more time than you could ever effort. So he have to loose track and it leaves him unhappy in the end.

The other guy uses his blog more as a forum. Discussion is not only welcome but most of the times leave even the topic of the original entry. He was happy with it and even being a person to be questioned (at least his opinions to left in question all the time) felt right to him. In his sense it will fundamentally change the way our society defines self-respect in that sense that you are willing to be questioned. It was very philosophic and I will leave the discussion here.

For me the interesting part was how different blogging can be seen. There is no "Right Blogging" but you have to define your brand. And it is all about brand. You design the image of yourself in the cyberspace. Interestingly it is very similar to brands in the economic world. There are brands with a bigger image then they deserve and vice versa.

By the way: What is my brand?? Ups, got to think about that ;-)
