Windows Vista at Harvey Norman’s Midnight Madness in Sydney

Just heard that Harvey Norman is opening up late and the first copy of Windows Vista in Australia will go on sale at Harvey Norman’s Alexandria store, Sydney, at midnight on 29 January 2007.  Harvey Norman is opening all its Eastern Seaboard and Metro stores in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne – 43 stores in total – from 11pm on 29 January to 1am on 30 January to sell Windows Vista and 2007 Microsoft Office system as soon as they become legally available for sale in Australia.

Harvey Norman chairman Gerry Harvey and newly-announced Microsoft Australia managing director Tracey Fellows will personally ring up the first sale, a special limited edition of Windows Vista Ultimate imprinted with Bill Gates’ signature.

Any customer intending on purchasing Vista at midnight will be given one raffle ticket and have the chance to purchase the first copy of Windows Vista in Australia, which will be the special collector’s edition.

In addition, the following bonuses and discount deals are being offered by Harvey Norman for people who purchase Windows Vista between midnight and 1am on 30 January, 2007:

  • BONUS C653 Kodak Digital Camera valued at $199 RRP for the first 100 people who purchase Windows Vista
  • BONUS VX-1000 Webcam valued at $59 RRP for the first 50 100 50 people who purchase Windows Vista or Office 2007
  • 10% off all computer hardware for customers purchasing Windows Vista.

When:  29 January 2007, 11.00pm doors open, 11.55pm Gerry Harvey and Tracey Fellows select first customer, 12.01am Gerry Harvey and Tracey Fellows ring up first purchase at cash register
