Shared Source Community Grows to 1 Million

I got this in a newsletter during the week and was quite surprised with the info. I didn't know MS was sharing source code with 1 million people.

Microsoft® is now sharing source code with more than 1 million developers, customers, governments, academics, and partners worldwide.

Launched in May of 2001, Shared Source continues to grow, now offering 14 programs covering technologies such as Windows®, developer tools and embedded technologies. There are no fees associated with any of the offerings and most programs allow for the developer to view, modify and redistribute source code. Organizations such as Citigroup and MIPS have benefited directly from Shared Source, as have individuals such as Microsoft’s Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs), students and hobbyists.
