I saw 'sparks' being emitted

SPUG (pronounced 'spark') is the SharePoint Users Group in Malaysia. We had a successful press interview this morning at the Microsoft Office on Level 29, Tower 2, Petronas Twin Towers. I invited Wong Y-Mi (CTO of Inceptio Technologies Sdn. Bhd.) and Matthew Khaw (VP of Technology, IGT Sdn. Bhd.) who are the co-founders of SPUG to speak to the local media. Also present was Simon Brown, who is the Vice President, Field Evangelism, Developer and Platform Group, Microsoft Corp, is in Kuala Lumpur as I write this. Simon started off the press interview by saying how passionate he is about Microsoft's interoperability principles in building up a viable local software economy. Tyson Down, my boss, explained the local context in which why a posting of thousands of pages of protocol document will empower all types of developers to build solutions that could leverage much of the features in Microsoft's products, and help spur innovation in order to compete in a flat world scenario.

I won't delve into specifics of what was covered during the press interview, but I will pen down my thoughts about the posting of the open protocols documentation. 3 things; the community, ISV partners, and the innovation that could be produced as a result of this.

Gotta run to a meeting, to be continued....
