Official Kinect for Windows SDK and Kinect Toolbox 1.1.1 are out!


The official Kinect for WIndows SDK is out and you can grab it here:



The key points are:

  • As long as you use a Kinect for Windows sensor (not the XBox360 one) and the official SDK, you can develop commercial applications using Kinect technologies.
  • New near mode for depth values (no skeleton tracking in this version) which enables the depth camera to see objects as close as 40 centimeters
  • Up to 4 sensors can be connected to the same computer

Of course the Kinect Toolbox 1.1.1 is also out and supports the final version of Kinect for Windows SDK:

    I did not understand one thing: the final release WILL NOT WORK with kinect for xbox, or it will work, but I just can't develop commercial apps?
