Integration of Hyper-V into the OpenStack Cloud Infrastructure

Microsoft has announced that it has partnered with Cloud.com and will support OpenStack with the integration of Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V into the OpenStack cloud infrastructure. .

OpenStack is an Open Source project, led by Rackspace and NASA. As part of this project, Rackspace and NASA are contributing their own cloud computing code that they have developed to run their cloud services in order to create an infrastructure that other companies can then adopt to build their own cloud services. Among OpenStack’s primary purposes are enabling an acceleration of cloud standards and allowing for broader adoption of cloud services.

As part of the collaboration, Microsoft will provide architectural and technical guidance to Cloud.com. Cloud.com in turn will develop the code to support OpenStack on Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V. Once complete, the project code will be checked into the public code repository at https://www.openstack.org.
