Impact on TFS Reports when Changing Work Item Area Path or Iteration

Recently had a case where the customer was about to reorganize the team project and assign new areas for the teams and update the iteration schedule and they were worried about the impact to the downstream reporting with all of the changes. Researched in-house and could not find a similar question being asked from a customer and found this post online https://blog.nwcadence.com/current-iteration.

Had to open a request with the TFS team and the answer I received was to rebuild the warehouse and cube after all of the reorganization is completed and this will ensure the correct areas and iterations now appear in the reports for the work items.
