Uncontrollable Urge

I can handle the “Who” music playing in the background in bars, but I’m afraid that I have to draw a line at Devo music in commercials. I just watched a Mitsubishi ad that used “Uncontrollable Urge” in it, and I think there’s another one that I heard recently.

That’s just wrong on so many levels.

What? DEVO is awesome! One of the GREAT bands of the 80’s.

    Are you crazy?

I agree. It’s just wrong that a song such as Uncomfortable Urge is being used to sell cars.

Though one might argue that it’s part of the devolution…

"Wrong on so many levels." LOL.

DEVO will again overtake the modern music scene. They will reign again. They will sell Dove dish detergent and Charmin bathroom tissue. DEVO will restore peace in the land and return us to the bounty we once knew.

"Are we not men? We are DEVO!"

  4. They used Whip It (or a modified version) for the Swiffer duster a few months back.

Thanks, Chris, I knew that I had heard another one, but I couldn’t place it.

I know what you mean, Eric, but I gave up on worrying about this kind of thing many, many years ago when I hear "Paint it Black" on an elevator’s Muzak.

That’s just wrong, too. But, it broke me of worrying about this kind of thing.

It won’t be long until NIN’s "Closer" is used in a commercial – though I can’t imagine for what…
