Entity specific ribbon does not render in Outlook client when selecting sub-grid in the dashboard

When selecting a record in CRM 2011 within a dashboard in the Outlook client, the ribbon does not change to the entity related ribbon like it does in IE client.

 

This is a known limitation of the Outlook Client for Dynamics CRM 2011

Workaround

Add the following Sub-area node to the sitemap.

<SubArea Id="custom_dashboards2" Icon="/_imgs/area/18_home.gif" Url="/main.aspx" Client=”Outlook” />

 

In order to show Dashboards, on directly navigating to this folder, the user has to set Dashboards as the landing page. Otherwise the user has to first navigate to Dashboards, using site navigation with in frame.
