Tools contained in the Update Rollup packages

An Update Rollup  package contains besides the updated CRM code a range of tools that perform specific repair or configuration tasks.

To get the tools you will need to extract the UR15 server package (or later) to a location on the Microsoft Dynamics CRM server by opening a command prompt and typing the following command that uses the extract parameter, and then pressing ENTER:
       CRMv4.0-KB2449283-i386-Server-ENU.exe /x
Select the destination folder, and then click OK.

You will now notice a tools folder underneath the extraction location.

The contained tools and their functionality:

cleanupextensiontables
Before UR7 orphaned extension base records may have been left behind on cascade delete operations.
The tool contained in this folder accepts an organization name as parameter and will then search and cleanup any orphaned extension base records.

This tool adapts the web.config files of a CRM deployment as needed.
It will determine the build version being installed/uninstalled from the supplied patch GUID and using the component (Server/Client) determines the web.config file path and applies the changes needed for the given version from the Web.Config_BuildVersion# file sitting in the tool's directory. This tool requires assistance/guidance from PSS.
