May 2011 Optional Updates Are On ECE For XPe and Standard 2009

The May 2011 Optional Updates release, available on the ECE site for Windows® Embedded Standard 2009 and/or Microsoft® Windows® XP  Service Pack 3, includes a number of fixes:

KB2524731 – This update adds missing binaries and configuration to enable the Windows Update Agent user interface which is used for configuring update scenarios including SCCM and WSUS on Windows Embedded Standard 2009 runtimes

KB2522113 – Visual Effects in the Windows Embedded Standard 2009 User Interface Core component are not configurable as expected by settings in the System Control Panel on Windows Embedded Standard 2009 runtimes. This update adds the required registry keys to support this configuration.

Although support for Windows XP Embedded SP2 (and the versions built on top of it, namely Feature Pack 2007 and Update Rollup 1) has officially ended we did release an update to one of the fixes previously released in the May 2010 Optional Update which was targeted at those platforms, in addition to XP Embedded SP3 and Windows Embedded Standard 2009.

KB981935 v2 resolves a regression introduced with the fix in the May-2010 Optional update for KB981935, which unnecessarily increased the Embedded runtime footprint size.
