Embedded Plans for Windows 7

Yesterday at the Embedded Systems Conference Boston the General Manager of the Windows Embedded Business, Kevin Dallas, announced that the next generation of Windows Embedded Standard (code named "Quebec") will be built on Windows 7.

The announcement included details that Quebec will deliver Silverlight 2, Windows Presentation Foundation and interoperability with Visual Studio 2010. Alignment with Windows 7 features will give OEMs access to the skills and contributions of a global community of Windows developers familiar with Visual Studio. You can read the full Press Release about this announcement with more details at: https://www.microsoft.com/windowsembedded/en-us/news/pressreleases/quebec-release.mspx.

Our team is excited to make this announcement, and we are looking forward to sharing more details on Quebec with the community in the coming months. If you are going to be attending the Professional Developers Conference 2008 in Los Angeles, please join members from our team during the session Windows Embedded “Quebec”: Developing for Devices today (10/29/08) from 4:45 to 6:00pm to hear more.
