Unicode Byte ordering

While looking up something related to the Unicode Byte Order Mark a couple of months ago I ran across this article on Joel Spolsky's blog and I kept meaning to share it with you but lost track of it during the FP2007 work.

The article is called "The Absolute Minimum Every Software Developer Absolutely, Positively Must Know About Unicode and Character Sets (No Excuses!)"

It's a very good primer if you're not familiar with the history of ASCII and answers why Unicode and Encodings were needed along with some of their gotchas.
