The Lync 2013 Desktop client does not technically support OCS 2007/R2 but if you have not yet upgraded to the latest version of Communicator but want to use Office 2013 to it's full potential then you can get the Desktop Application to sign into your OCS Account by adding the following Key/DWord into your registry.

Client Lync Server 2013 Lync Server 2010 Office Communications Server 2007 R2
Lync 2013 Supported Supported

Not Supported

Press WinKey+R and type in RegEdit (edit registry at your own risk)

Browse to the following Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPOLICIESMICROSOFT

  • Create a Key called: Office
  • Create a Key called: 15.0
  • Create a Key called: Lync

The Full Path then will look like the following:  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPOLICIESMICROSOFTOffice15.0Lync

Inside that key, create a DWORD called DisableServerCheck with a value of 1

As per the following screenshot:

Lync_2013_Client

Now, Go ahead and sign into Lync 2013 Client using your credentials and you should be good to go.

  • IM/Presence - Works
  • Desktop Sharing - Works
  • Conferencing (Audio/Video) - Works

I hope that helps,

Cheers,

James.
