Important Update to the Microsoft Business Intelligence (BI) Product Roadmap

BI strategy update strengthens commitment to providing world class financial reporting and planning solutions for customers.

Microsoft announces changes to its BI roadmap that reflect our strategy of reaching 100% of an organization with BI capabilities. Based on an in-depth product roadmap review and customer feedback, we will shift PerformancePoint Server into SharePoint Server, making the widely used scorecard, dashboard, and analytical capabilities available to everyone in the organization.

During the summer of 2009, we will release PerformancePoint Server 2007 “Service Pack 3” which will include updates to the current product’s Planning capability. Thereafter, you should not expect further investment in standalone versions of PerformancePoint Server. Support and maintenance for existing PerformancePoint Planning customers is our top priority. We will work closely with you on a one-to-one basis during this transition.

This product roadmap update will enable you to deploy powerful and accessible BI solutions that utilize their existing investments in the widely available SQL Server and SharePoint Server infrastructures, as well as Excel, the most broadly used BI planning tool in market today.

A more detailed product roadmap for our financial planning and reporting solutions will be available at Convergence 2009 in New Orleans.
