Management Reporter web viewer Q&A – Management Reporter RU3 release preview

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve had the opportunity to preview the web viewer with customers at various user group events. We’ve gotten some great questions out of those sessions. We wanted to share the questions along with the answers with you. Hopefully any of the questions you had about the web viewer are answered below. If not, please let us know in the comments.

Do I have to have SharePoint to use the web viewer?

 No. You only need to have an internet browser to use the web viewer. Links to reports can be published either to a network share or a SharePoint document library.

 What browsers does the web viewer support?  

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer ® 9 or Internet Explorer 10
  • Google Chrome® (version 22.0.1229.79 or newer)
  • Mozilla Firefox ® 14.01 or newer
  • Apple Safari ® 5.1 or newer (on Apple iOS only)

 Do I have to be on Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 or Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 to use the web viewer?

 The web viewer will be available with Management Reporter 2012 RU3. Management Reporter 2012 RU3 will be available with the following Microsoft Dynamics ERPs:

  • Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009
  • Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012
  • Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010
  • Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013
  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 (for existing Microsoft FRx customers only)
  • Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011

 Does the web viewer require a Management Reporter license?

 Yes, in order to view reports in the web viewer, you must be a user in Management Reporter which means you need to have a license.

What happens to report links I created with Management Reporter 2012 RU2 and before?

 When you select a link in Management Reporter 2012 RU3 and later, the link will automatically open in the web viewer. You don’t need to regenerate or make any changes to existing report links.

How do I see my entire report in one screen?

 You can see your entire report in one screen by using the Zoom option on the application bar. You can select the zoom level that fits your needs.

How do I open a report in Microsoft Excel ® in the web viewer?

You can open the report you are viewing in Microsoft Excel by using the Download option on the application bar. You can then choose Microsoft Excel.

Where do the charts in the web viewer come from?

 The charts shown in the web viewer chart gallery are created in the Management Reporter desktop viewer. Any charts saved with a specific version of the report are displayed in the web viewer’s chart gallery.

Can I create new charts in the web viewer?

 Charts are created in the desktop viewer and displayed in the web viewer. At this time, new charts can’t be created in the web viewer.

How do I view two reporting units or detail levels side by side?

 You can view two reporting units or detail levels side by side by right-clicking on the unit or number and selecting Open in a new window. If you are on Windows 7, you can then use the Windows 7 snap feature to snap the windows to each side of your screen. You can see more by checking out our video on key navigation features.
