New security option for designers

Report designers have the ability to schedule reports and/or report groups, and they also have the ability to edit building blocks.  Some businesses do not want individuals changing reports that are part of a report schedule because any edits to a report may go unnoticed if the report is part of an automated schedule.  Therefore, with Management Reporter 2012 there is a new security option for designers.  This permission is optional, and allows designers to edit rows, columns, and trees that are part of a report schedule.

When this option is unchecked, the designer will not have the ability to edit rows, columns or trees that are part of a scheduled report or report group.   If the user attempts to open a building block that is part of a scheduled report, the user will receive a message that the report is part of a report schedule, and the user does not have the appropriate permissions to modify the report.

When this option is selected, the user has access and can modify the building blocks that are part of a scheduled report or scheduled report group.

This added permission allows a company to decide which users can edit building blocks that are part of a scheduled report, and ensures that the right information is delivered to the right individuals.
