Welcome to Dynamics CPM!

Right now you are probably asking yourself, "What is Dynamics CPM?".  CPM stands for Corporate Performance Management.  It is a business intelligence capability area that covers the scenarios of Financial Reporting, Planning/Budgeting/Forecasting, and Consolidations.

Currently, CPM within Microsoft Dynamics is made up of a variety of different assets.  These include FRx, Forecaster, Enterprise Reporting, Excel, 3rd party solutions, as well as native functionality within each ERP.  There are roadmaps being developed which demonstrate how these assets will be handled moving forward.  More information on this will follow in future posts.

The desired state for Microsoft Dynamics is delivering a single toolset which covers these scenarios that works across GP, AX, NAV, and SL.  Benefits of delivering a single toolset include simplified deployment, streamlined maintenance, and a reduced learning curve.  It will allow Microsoft to focus on adding more functionality to fewer, better, tools.  Our goal is to achieve this desired state over several product releases.

The purpose of this blog is to communicate with customers, partners, and the Dynamics community about how we are handling CPM.  My name is Mike McLean, and I am a Program Manager on the product team for Dynamics CPM.  More specifically, we own FRx, Forecaster, Management Reporter, and Enterprise Reporting.  You can expect regular updates (maybe once, twice a week?) from either myself or someone else on our team.  We'll be posting about the fun and exciting features being added to our products and keep you informed of how things are moving along.  Thanks for visiting!
