SQL Server Project “Houston” & SQL Azure

In this video from TechEd 2010, Group Program Manager Patric McElroy demos some new and future SQL Azure capabilities. It’s worth watching the entire 80 minute video but if you only have 6 or 7 minutes then the piece you won’t want to miss is Project “Houston”. It starts at ~51:00.

Project “Houston” is a new Silverlight based management tool for SQL Azure which my team has been working on for about a year. It targets developers who are using SQL Azure as a backend repository for their web apps. It’ll be hosted on Windows Azure which means as an end user you won’t have anything to install on your local machine.

We’re not announcing availability yet but stay tuned.
