Windows 10: Looking good with build 10122!

How I see Build 10122
The upgrade from 10074 or whatever I was on went smoothly on my Lenovo Twist, which is no longer offered to the public or even in private.
If you don’t have it loaded on a machine, get it loaded. Of course it is still beta so don’t put it on that system that you need for your finals in the UC system or spring quarter.
First thing I checked was the settings-Update & Security-For Developers, and it showed dialog Use Developer Features, which wasn’t working for me in Build 10074. I won’t show you a picture, because…you should just load it your darn self and start using it.
Even on my somewhat terrible Lenovo Twist, the interaction with Windows 10 is much more coherent for me than with WIndows 8. I am writing this on a Surface Pro 3 with Windows 8 and doing a side-by-side comparison, and really Windows 10 just looks better, both have the same background, etc.
For some reason the Win 10 reaction to my input is snappy and feels fresh, which likely to a number of reasons:
- I have been a Microsoft Fanboy since Windows 3.1 and have used intensively every “Windows” operating system since Windows 3.0, and the DOS based stuff before then.
- The animations are somehow improved
- Processing of the user interface is faster due to the changes in the .NET basis of the Universal App
New for build 10122, my observations, see other sources for the corporate items, which are better than reading the junk I write:
- My windows button now works and opens the start dialog, this is the “Windows Flag” button at the bottom or side of your screen, it was working in previous versions on my Lenovo Twist
- Cortana can tell me a joke when I ask (as a depressed person, this works for me)
- Edge: Write on the web, like that, now I want to graffiti some sites…oh it doesn’t work that way.
- Use your device like a tablet: Nice feature, all of the goodness of WIndows 8, but better!
There are some downsides to Windows 10 in my opinion, especially it seems like the default design requires me to adjust it for my vision. It would be nice if there as a quick set so that I could enlarge certain things in the environment instead of digging around to make it happen. For instance, Ease of Access if fine if you have vision issues for instance, but mine is more vanity in nature, I want to not to use my reading glasses. So maybe a setting for the vain where everything gets enlarged just a bit. Or a way for me to set that up and share with my friends. Isn’t that the nature of Open Source, I make something and then share it. So if I make a “Vanity” setting, I should be able to share it with others like a Theme. And if that is possible let me know in the comments.
Windows 10 is visually exciting, has the coolness of Windows 7, newness of Windows XP (when it was launched), and some of the good things that Windows 8.1 has.
